Roller Skate Size Guide, How to Pick the Correct Size? 0

Roller Skates Sizing Guide, How to Measure and Choose the Right Size

Choosing the right roller skate size is personal. Skates fit almost like shoes, but not exactly. Why? Because when you skate, your foot moves inside the boot more than when you walk.

What Size Roller Skates Should You Buy?

In most cases, we recommend choosing one size bigger than your regular shoe size. However, never buy blindly. Always check the insole length provided by the manufacturer and compare it to your foot length. Each brand can have slightly different sizing.

For example, if you normally wear EU 38 and the skate manufacturer states that size 38 corresponds to a 25 cm insole, and your foot length is actually 25 cm, that means the sizing matches. In that case, you can safely choose size 39 for better comfort while skating.

Before buying roller skates, measure your foot length and compare it with the manufacturer’s size chart.

How to Try On Roller Skates Properly?

When your skates arrive, take your time. Try on both skates, lace them properly and stand up so your feet settle naturally inside the boots.

Your toes should not press hard against the front of the boot. Your heel should sit comfortably without lifting. If your toes are cramped, skating will not be comfortable. Painful toes and tired feet usually mean the skates are too small.

Do not choose skates that are too big either. Oversized skates affect weight distribution, foot positioning and overall posture. That reduces comfort and safety.

Keep in mind that roller skates, like shoes, slightly break in over time and adapt to your foot shape. This is especially important because most skates come in standard width. After a few sessions, they usually feel more natural and comfortable.

How to Measure Roller Skates for Kids?

For children, follow the same sizing rules. When trying them on, do not lace them tightly at first. You can gently slide your index finger between your child’s heel and the boot. If it fits without force, check the toes.

The child’s toes should be straight and lightly touching the front of the boot with a small amount of space. They must not be curled. Sometimes children do not notice when their toes are bent, so show them the difference between straight and curled toes before checking the fit.

If everything feels right and the fit is snug but comfortable, the size should be correct.
