New grips are a quick way to refresh your bike or give it a custom touch. With plenty of colors and styles, you’re sure to find something that fits you.
Most BMX grips fit standard 22.2 mm handlebars – that’s the common size in freestyle bikes. Just make sure your bar isn’t unusually oversized or meant for another riding style.
Standard grip length is around 130–180 mm. Choose shorter grips for smaller bars or if you ride brakeless, and longer ones for extra comfort or bar ends with more coverage.
Flanged grips give a retro feel and offer thumb protection. Flangeless grips are cleaner and more modern, often preferred by park and street riders. It’s all personal preference.
You can slide them on with a bit of rubbing alcohol, grip glue, or compressed air. Avoid using soap – it can leave your grips slippery. Check our full grip install guide.
When they start slipping, cracking, or losing their shape – it’s time for new ones. Frequency depends on how often and how hard you ride, but most riders replace grips every few months.
