How to Prepare Your Stunt Scooter for the New Season? 0

How to Get Your Stunt Scooter Ready for the Season

The weather might not be inspiring, but you can still boost your mood and prepare your stunt scooter for a busy riding season. A quick pre-season service keeps every pro scooter safe and ready for new tricks.

First, track down your scooter, whether it’s in the garage, attic, basement or still at a friend’s house. Brush off the dust and give it a close inspection. Regular scooter maintenance helps you avoid sudden breakdowns and keeps the setup dialed in.

Start with a Full Stunt Scooter Check-Up

Grab your Allen keys, at least two. Most brands include them in the box, but if you’re missing the right sizes, you’ll find replacement stunt scooter tools in our shop.

1. Handlebar and Compression System

Stand on the scooter and test the bar. If it wobbles side to side, tighten the clamp. Still loose or making noise? Check the compression system and tighten or replace the compression bolt. Inspect the headset bearings; sand or water inside can cause grinding sounds—clean and re-grease before reassembly.

2. Wheels and Bearings

Check for wheel play. If the wheels move sideways, tighten the axles with two Allen keys. Grinding noises? Remove the wheels and clean the bearings. Examine the stunt scooter wheels; if they’re worn flat or oval, replace them and confirm the new size matches your fork, deck spacing and brake clearance. Don’t forget to inspect the axles.

3. Brake Condition

A weak brake won’t stop anything, except maybe email spam. Check the scooter brake and replace it if it’s cracked or worn. Make sure the mounting holes and wheel size match your deck.

4. Deck and Griptape

Look over the deck. If the griptape is shredded or peeling, swap it for a fresh sheet to keep your feet secure during tricks. Here’s a quick guide on how to replace griptape.

5. Grips and Bar Ends

Check your grips. If they’re torn or loose, replace them to prevent slips and keep your teeth safe. Inspect the bar ends too, they absorb impacts when the scooter hits the ground or walls. Need help? See our guide on how to replace scooter grips and learn how to change bar ends.

Regular stunt scooter maintenance with the right service tools and Allen keys means smoother rides, safer sessions, and a longer life for every part of your pro scooter. Get your setup dialed in now and you’ll be ready to ride the moment the sun comes out.
