How to Choose the Right BMX Helmet?
Protection matters. Every single time you ride.
You need a helmet whenever you get on a bike, whether it is BMX or a regular bicycle. The same goes for a skateboard, inline skates, ice skates, skis, a pro scooter, city scooter or electric scooter. The type of equipment does not change the rule. Helmet on.
Today, there are so many BMX and skate helmets on the market that you can easily find one that is both comfortable and looks good. Safety does not mean you have to sacrifice style.
What size helmet should you choose?
The most important thing is correct sizing. When you put the helmet on, it should not slide on easily. It should feel snug and offer light resistance.
Before buying, you must measure your head circumference. This is the only way to choose the correct BMX helmet size.
How to measure your head for a BMX or skate helmet?
Use a soft measuring tape. Measure the circumference of your head at its widest point. This is usually about 2 to 3 cm above your eyebrows and just above your ears.

How to choose the right skate helmet size?
Once you know your head measurement, check the size chart in the product description. Each helmet model lists the head circumference range for each size.
If you are still growing and your measurement comes out as, for example, 54.6 cm, round up to 55 cm. Most helmets include extra padding inserts that allow you to fine tune the fit.
If you are between sizes, it is smart to order two sizes and compare them at home. Keep the one that fits best and return the other.
Trying on a BMX or scooter helmet
When trying on a helmet, adjust the straps so it sits firmly on your head.
The helmet should not move when you shake your head forward, backward or side to side. It should stay in place without sliding.
A properly fitted helmet sits low on your forehead, just above your eyebrows. It should not sit high on top of your head.
The right BMX helmet feels comfortable and secure without pressure points. If it fits well, you will forget you are even wearing it.

Choosing a helmet is like choosing the right pair of shoes. When it fits, you will know.
