Not sure where to start? Think about where you ride and what you want to learn. Your first sessions on inline skates, scooter tricks and bike park descents call for different equipment. You don’t have to choose everything at once, but it helps to understand what each item is for.
A helmet is essential. Choose one suited to your discipline and head size. Pads help protect the parts of your body most exposed to knocks and scrapes, while gloves and goggles can be useful depending on your equipment and the conditions.
Falls can happen even at low speeds when you are learning. Knee and elbow pads help protect against impacts and abrasions, so a missed trick does not always have to mean scraped knees.
For skateboarding, inline skating and roller skating, consider wrist guards too. If you are starting from scratch, a set with knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards is a practical way to get all three together.
